One of my favorite clients in Los Angeles to work with is the company Five Four. This unique clothing company offers a private, hassle free, on-line shopping experience. When signing up, you first complete a style survey. You then get matched up with your very own personal stylist. Your new stylist then puts together a package for you each month based on your style preferences. Each month, you’ll then receive your package of hand- selected clothing to add to your wardrobe.
Five Four is currently serving all 48 lower states and Canada. They offer free shipping both ways. They also provide a prepaid label in all packages for easy exchanges.
Last month, over 3 shoot days, I groomed the male models for Five Four’s most recent catalogue campaign. Each morning of the shoot, we met at the Five Four offices in LA. I do the models hair and makeup there. We then travel to the location for the day to shoot the campaign. Needless to say, these days are so much fun! Everyone working on the shoot from Guido the photographer, to Angelyne the coordinator/stylist, to Angel the stylist are consummate professionals.
The first day I worked with Next Model Management model David Law. This shoot day was “Dress To Impress”. As you can see, he’s very handsome and was an absolute pleasure to work with.
Day two, I worked with Next Model Management model Tommy Briggs. This shoot was “T-Shirt & Jeans”. Ironically, one of the shoot locations was The Blind Barber in Culver City. This is the barber shop/speak easy I visited a couple months ago and wrote a post on.
This is a quick little movie shot by Angel Sanchez of me grooming Tommy on set.
The third and final day of the shoot, I worked with Next Model Management model Nathen Roberts. The look for this shoot was “Business Casual”. To say we all had fun would be an understatement! These kinds of days make me love what I do; even more than I already do!
I’ll give you several of my secrets to preparing the guys for their shoots each day! I started by cleansing their skin with Biore Cleansing Cloths.
I then used Mario Badescu Aloe Vera Toner on their skin to help take away any further dirt and oil.
On men I like to use Burt’s Bees Sensitive Daily Moisturizing Cream. This is a very light, fragrance free, hypo-allergenic moisturizer.
A staple in my kit is Kryolan Perfect Matt. This product is perfect for taking a guy’s skin and making it look matt with out a touch of powder! It is a very light gel that you can put on your face to keep from looking shiny.
These are just a few of my favorite products I use to get men ready for photo shoots. I’ll share more of my favorites in posts to come!
