I love a man with a great beard. From the perfect 5 o’clock shadow to a full mountain man beard, and everything in between. Studies show that many woman find men with beards more attractive. This rings true for myself and many of my girlfriends! Beards have had a big resurgence in the last several years.  No longer are they considered messy, dirty or unkempt, unless of course they ARE! But rather; sexy, stylish, trendy, masculine and a whole host of other positive adjectives.  Here are some of me favorite beard styles…

5 O’clock Shadow

The 5 o’clock shadow is simply your beard neatly trimmed down with a clipper guard of 1 or 2. Or you’re beard with one days growth…hence the name 5 o’clock shadow…as in you shaved in the morning and its grown out all day.

Lazy Sophisticate

The lazy sophisticate is a beard with approximately 3 to 6 weeks of growth. This beard is still considered a short beard. It can be groomed and kept at this length with a clipper guard of 3 or 4.

Mid-Length Beard

The mid length beard is easy and very versatile. This beard looks best with a close sided hair cut. This creates a cleaner look. Keeping this beard trimmed uniformly is important, otherwise it may look a bit unkempt.

Long Stylish

Long Stylish

The long stylish beard is a wide, full beard with a rounded bottom. The moustache flows into the beard. Pulling this look off requires being able to grow a thick full beard. This beard also looks great with longer hair.

Mountain Man

Mountain Man

The mountain man beard is the hardest beard to pull off and but the easiest to maintain. Wearing this beard, you’re either going to look as though you may sleep in a cardboard box under the freeway…or super hip and stylish!

With all beards, no matter the length, I strongly suggest lining up the beard along your cheeks for a nice detail. Also, you should keep your neck under the beard lined up and shaved clean. If shaving this sensitive skin irritates you, I suggest using a clipper instead of a razor. Use a clipper with no guard to get a close shave to avoid the irritation than could be caused by a razor. These grooming details will refine and compliment the style and look of any beard you choose to wear. Giving you the appearance of a well groomed man. Whatever the length or style of your beard, you MUST keep it and your skin underneath clean, moisturized, and smelling good. No one wants to see or smell your lunch, or heaven forbid, what you may of done the night before, in your beard! I suggest regularly using a beard cleanser. These are specifically formulated for the sensitive facial skin under your beard. They also provide necessary conditioning for your beard. Try www.beardshampoo.com or www.bluebeardsoriginal.com for your beard care. My favorite beard balm is from www.clifforiginal.com Beard Arousal Balm. This unique, all natural product, conditions your beard. Leaving it feeling soft, smooth, and smelling amazing. image
